Hey folk...come on board, become a member of this blog and get actively discussing. especially those of us in Ireland where we rarely publically challenge anything around disability!
News stories from the UK and around the world surely must make us think about what is happening in Ireland
1) we have no hate crime laws against disabled people
2) doesn't seem to be any special help in courts for learning disabled people to give evidence (I might be wrong)
3) cuts to benefits to disabled people increasing isolation, loneliness poverty and an underclass of vulnerable people.
4) we haven't yet ratified the UN convention on the rights of disabled people. (one of only 3 countries in Europe not to)
and so it goes on....
we must discuss and highlight
welcome aboard.
Margaret
A disabled woman challenges the 'status quo' in Ireland. This blog was started to highlight inequality, abuse and injustice in the lives of disabled people. The wooden spoon was given to me when I graduated (PhD) as I'm known to 'stir up' and get things done. I'm still stirring from my wheelchair...Justice for disabled people demands we 'stir-up' complacency, injustice, inequality lack of services, and scapegoating . Disabled people deserve rights not charity! "Nothing about me without me!"
