A disabled woman challenges the 'status quo' in Ireland. This blog was started to highlight inequality, abuse and injustice in the lives of disabled people. The wooden spoon was given to me when I graduated (PhD) as I'm known to 'stir up' and get things done. Inspirational doctor left paralysed from waist down returns to surgery thanks to 'stand-up wheelchair' - Yahoo News UK
Why is he called 'inspirational'. He had a terrible medical emergency leaving him paralysed but he is perfectly capable of doing surgery. Many surgeons SIT for surgery . Is it so unbelievable that a disabled wheelchair user can be a surgeon that they call him inspirational?
If we all realised the potential in EVERY disabled person there would be hundreds of disabled surgeons but many are not taken on to train and therefore we don't see them that often!
I don't see him as 'inspirational' I see him as a man 'gone back to work'.
Quit all this emotional crap.

Admiration...why admiration...because he might be contaminated? Because it's not a great idea to touch a disabled person? because we are all 'unclean'. I'm raging, raging.
