A disabled woman challenges the 'status quo' in Ireland. This blog was started to highlight inequality, abuse and injustice in the lives of disabled people. The wooden spoon was given to me when I graduated (PhD) as I'm known to 'stir up' and get things done. I'm still stirring from my wheelchair...Justice for disabled people demands we 'stir-up' complacency, injustice, inequality lack of services, and scapegoating . HSE = 'Hell service of evil' ; Ireland's health service & Disability
I don't usually stop to take time to write a piece for this blog. It's not that sort of blog. it was intended to be more like a notice-board. But I change tactic in the face of evil.
Many don't believe there IS evil in this world, but there is. and it can be summed up in one word 'judgement' . Who are WE to judge? Well do we need some 'judgement' or there would be anarchy in our streets. Laws need judgement.
What I'm speaking of here is when people make judgement about Disabled people that they have no right, skill or experience to do so.
and we are seeing more and more of that now, especially enshrined in Governments policies that need to cut budgets and attack disabled people in doing so. Like ATOS in the UK. Here in Ireland there tends to be less judgement politically , at least overtly, they just go ahead and slash all benefits to Disabled people without saying anything. They listen to no-one, and a march here and there doesn't impact at all. Disabled people just seem to lie down and take it. And no disability organisation, so far, has really got off the ground in a mega fashion to rip roar riot over the cuts. The one organisation that makes press releases does a good job on facts and clearly confronts and tells the truth but they are not out there causing a rukus, because they want to 'work with the government' I think, keep 'in', so as to change things. They really think being kept around the table in Leinster House (our seat of Government) is REALLY going to change things. Bollocks. it hasn't up till now, has it!?
They don't seem to SEE the government chains, chaining them to that table!
Here in Ireland our professionals in the Health Service Executive, [that should stand for HELL service of EVIL] are getting in on the 'evil of judgement', in order not to give a service because they allegedly cannot afford to, they libel and slander their clients instead. yes, I know this for a fact. I've seen one woman's files, gained by her under the 'freedom of information' act, the physiotherapists, the managers, the Occupational Therapists, the Home Help files, all of them. And all I've seen is EVIL.
evil Judgement. Evil throughout. Nothing but evil, spawned by an Irish Government hell bent in crucifying a vulnerable population. I brought to the attention of my nurse the other day an elderly woman and she just muttered that "there's more to that story" in a clearly 'pissed off' tone. This woman is 85, I happen to believe her. Her equally elderly 'boy-friend' across the way was to say to my twin "I thought the HSE was supposed to care - they are evil"...he's 85 for God's sake! She's 85 for God's sake and they speak like this because they've touched evil in our care-givers.
take the issue over a BATH, yes a BATH. Don't you just LOVE to soak those weary bones when tired and stressed and ill. Well so does one disabled woman. So does SHE! But Ha! No! when she applied for her housing adaptation grant she wasn't allowed keep her bath. No amount of "but I'm in terrible pain, I NEED my bath" worked. T.D's couldn't change the HSE mind...at first...but eventually after ONE WHOLE YEAR they relented. When the manager of OT services was off sick, her manager came to see this woman's house, she then over-ruled her staff member. After a solid YEAR. Who is this woman?
My Twin. now here's the rub, I had an adaptation grant as well and I wasn't made to have a wet-room, nor asked to, nor discussed with. it transpires it's all about money. It is perceived I have it, my twin doesn't. So the OT told my twin , yes, admitted it "they don't want you coming back for more" [if she needs a wet-room later] . After they agreed she could keep her bath, they then tried to get her to sign an agreement that she would not come back for more...she refused. This is EVIL.
They were PREPARED, quite prepared to let a sick and disabled woman suffer extreme pain (without a bath) because they wanted to SAVE money. They didn't do that to me, why? because I have 'Dr' in front of my name and they think I have money. I don't or else I wouldn't be fund-raising with my twin for new wheelchairs and a van to transport them! These rickety old wheelchairs from of the Hell service of Evil, (HSE) are just that...HELL!
I could go on about the evil of the HSE in Ireland, the Health Service Executive should stand for HELL service of EVIL. It's no longer about 'care' it's about saving money. It's no longer about your 'needs', it's about saving money. It's no longer about compassion, for the way they work now is to slander and libel the patient/client to make her/him the 'baddie', so they can look the 'goodie', a special tactic used when they refuse services.
